Chattipathiri/Malabar Lasagne



Hiii Friends,
Today I like to share with you people, the recipe of chattipathiri or malabar lasagne.
I got this recipe from one of my friends from northern side of Kerala.
Actually chattipathiri can be made in 2 ways, depending upon the filling we are using, sweet chattipathiri and spicy chattipathiri. Here I am sharing the spicy version.
Eventhough cooking it needs more time, the taste pays for it😉
In this I'm using 2 fillings, a chicken filling and an egg filling.

Now coming to the recipe...

First I am preparing chicken filling. For that I need:

Onion- 3 sliced
Gingergarlic paste- 1tbsp
Green Chilli- 2 slited

Curry leaves - 2 small stem
Boneless chicken-100g
Turmeric powder- 1tsp+1tsp
Pepper powder- 1tsp+1tsp
Garam masala- 1tsp
Oil- 1tbsp
Salt

First cook the boneless chicken along with 1tsp turmeric powder, 1tsp pepper powder and salt.Once it get cooked, allow it to cool and then shred it down into small pieces and keep it aside.
Slice the onions, slit the chillies. 
Then take a pan. Heat some oil in it. Put the onions, curry leaves and chillies into it and saute it until onion becomes transparent. Then add ginger garlic paste. Saute for an another minute. Then add remaining turmeric powder, pepper powder and garam masala and enough salt. Saute for another minute. Then add the shredded chicken and mix it very well and cook it for 5 minutes in low flame. Switch off the flame and keep it aside. 

Our first filling is ready. Now we have to make the second one, an egg filling.For that we need:

Onion- 2 sliced
Ginger garlic paste- 1tsp
Green Chilli- 1 slited
Egg- 2
Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
Pepper powder- 1tsp+1tsp

Garam masala- 1tsp
Oil-1tbsp
Salt

First beat the eggs well along with 1tsp pepper powder and salt. 
Slice the onions, slit the chillies. 
Heat some oil in a pan. Put the onions, curry leaves and chillies into it and saute it until onion becomes transparent. Then add ginger garlic paste. Saute for an another minute. Then add turmeric powder, pepper powder and garam masala and enough salt. Saute for another minute. Now add the beaten egg and scramble it very well. Allow to cook for 2 minutes. Then keep it aside. 


Now we have to make chapathis. This can be made by either wheat flour or all purpose flour. For making chapathis we need:
All purpose flour/Wheat flour- 1.5 cup
Hot water-1/2cup 
Salt
Add salt to hot water and pour it to flour little by little and mix and knead it well until it becomes a firm dough. divide the dough into 6 or 7 parts. Then roll each part into a medium sized ball. Then on a lightly floured surface, using a rolling pin, roll this balls into thin circular sheets. Make sure that, these circular sheets have almost the same diameter of the pan you are planning to prepare the chattipathiri. Also all chapathis must be of almost same size. Heat a skillet and once it get hot, put first chapatti into it and allow it to cook for 20 seconds then flip it and allow that side to cook for 20 seconds. Then take it and keep it aside. Cook remaining chapattis also. 



Now it is time for assembling. For that we need:
Milk- 1 cup
Pepper powder-1/2tsp
Salt
Egg- 2

Ghee/Oil-  For greasing the pan

Heat the pan which you are intending to make the chattipathiri. Switch the flame to low. Grease it with some ghee or oil.


In a bowl beat the eggs along with some salt. In another bowl take milk.


Now take the first chapathi. First dip it in milk, then dip dip it in beaten egg, then put it into the pan. Then add some chicken filling and spread it allover the chapathi.
Then add the second chapathi, after dipping in milk and oil.
Then add some egg filling and spread it.
Now add the next chappathi and then chicken filling and repeat it until the chapattis are finished. Put the last chapathi after dipping in milk and egg. Then pour the remaining egg and milk over it and through its sides.
Close the pan with a lid and allow it to cook for 10 minutes.
Then flip it over to another greased pan and cook the top side for 5 minutes. Switch off the flame. Our yummy chattipathiri is ready😋😋
